There is a common misconception that your car’s battery is more likely to fail in winter than in summer. But, in fact, exactly the opposite is true! Extreme heat takes an enormous toll on your battery, and when a battery fails, it fails completely.
So, it is very important to have your battery checked in the summertime, particularly as we move into the “dog days” of July & August. Duxler’s technicians routinely check your battery as part of our free safety inspection, which is always performed when you have an oil change or any other service.
However, even if you are between oil changes, you should still have your battery checked in the extreme heat. If the battery is in good shape and does not need to be replaced, we will still clean and reseal the cable ends to keep you going all summer.
